The Susan Marie Rupp Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in loving memory of Susan Marie (McCullen) Rupp, who courageously battled recurring Ovarian Cancer for 8 years. Sadly, Susan lost her fight against Ovarian Cancer on July 30, 2010 at the age of 52.
Our foundation’s primary mission is to raise awareness of Ovarian Cancer, educate women on the often-vague symptoms, and raise money for research in the hope that within our lifetimes others will not have to face the loss of a treasured loved one to this “silent killer.”
Our foundation will also continue to honor Susan’s legacy within the Pine Hill community through programs and donations to the Pine Hill Youth Association and the Pine Hill School District, two of her greatest passions in life.
Mission Statement
- Spread awareness of Ovarian Cancer by educating women to recognize its signs and symptoms.
- Motivate women to listen to their bodies and talk with their doctors, as early detection of Ovarian Cancer is the key to survival.
- Raise funds for medical research that will advance the screening, treatment, cure, and prevention of Ovarian Cancer.
- Fulfill Susan’s lifelong passion for the youth of her community through volunteerism, education, and athletic programs.
History
The Susan Marie Rupp Foundation was founded by Susan’s family on September 4, 2010 with our inaugural “Teal Ribbons of Hope Campaign.”
Our foundation welcomed nearly 150 volunteers who handed out symptom information cards and placed over 1,000 teal ribbons, which is the nationally recognized color for Ovarian Cancer, throughout the streets of Pine Hill, New Jersey, Susan’s beloved hometown. This event ushered in the first time Pine Hill residents were introduced to National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, which occurs every September.
